How best to do it? I have a few celery plants growing in pots, and they are at the point now that I need to be blanching them - what should I wrap them in for best effect?

I've frozen celery but you need to remember that it is water based and if you are going to use it in casseroles and soups it will be ok from frozen. If your thinking about salad.... they will be a bit mushy!

You don't need to blanch them.... I give them a good wash and ensure that they are dry, then place them on a baking tray covered with grease proof paper ensure they are not touching....once frozen I bag them up to the size of 'helping' I want, don't over bag them as they are not like peas and won't separate... celery will keep for a year in the freezer... :)

I think fat Controller means blanching as in whitening the stalks as they grow. I use corrugated cardboard sheet just wrapped around and tied
      Regards Alex

Sorry @Apple Blossom, I was about as clear as mud there! Yes, I do mean whitening the stems. I assume they will be bitter if I don't?
