Got home yesterday evening and found the upright metal pole on one end of the runner beans had succumbed to the strength of the wind, against the mass of bean foliage. Managed to pull the pole upright and get a guy rope around a stake, hope it holds!!
The only minor damage was to the parsnips which the end of the bean row landed on, but they seem to be recovering.:)

Labrador, if I had a garden shredder I would sell it 'cos most of the stuff that I've grown this year has been pre- shredded by the wind. Even the low growing stuff and don't even mention hanging baskets, things get a good soaking and then get threshed around till whole lumps of plant are broken off, a thoroughly miserable summer.
