This Spring I planted a 12" Bleeding Heart, in amongst two established plants of the same type. It died- just withered away. The other two are doing well. Same soil, same level of care- can anyone tell me what I might have done wrong? It was a nursery plant, and wasn't cheap,
    but wasn't guaranteed, either..

    Thanks for anyone's help!

I've read that their roots are very delicate and easily damaged. Perhaps the transfer affected it?
Even though it wasn't guaranteed you could try going back to the nursery and explaining- you might get another plant!
I have the red and the white Spectabilis and the smaller pink Formosa. They all produce seed and the Formosa particularly grows easily. This year the seed heads have rotted withe wet weather, though
Have you tried growing from seeds?

It could just be dying back for the winter and will pop through again around March. I like dicentras but found their habit of flowering for a couple of weeks and then dying back annoying. Mainly because I would forget that they were there and plant something else on top. I think that the white variety died back before the red, or the other way around!
