    Hey all,

I've now got my grass looking pretty good - except that the turf was bought at different times and although brought from the same place they appear to have changed suppliers. The result - the top and bottom halfs of my lawn are different shades. Will they blend in naturally or is there something I can do to help?

    Thanks,

The chances are that the suppliers have used different types of grass seed so it's unlikely they will blend in naturally for the next few years. Feeding it next year is an option but I can't guarantee it will make a difference. I wouldn't feed it now while the grass is still very young. I think the only thing you can do is give it time. :)

Where did you buy the turf from, is it general amenity turf?

It will blend in time as Sheal says but your best bet would be to over seed the whole lawn in Autumn. You can hire a slitter/scarifier to open up the surface of the soil by running N/S and E/W then as long as you have even seed coverage it'll blend nicely. You won't completly blend in one hit but it would make the whole process faster.

Match the seed variety mix to your growing conditions and you're good to go.

I hadn't thought of that idea Axl, that's something to remember for the future. :dbgrtmb:

Thanks both - that's encouraging as I've got overseeding and top dressing on the schedule for this year anyway (following the advice from Sheal to leave alone for a few weeks!).

It may be better for the lawn if you leave the over seeding now until early autumn, if you can wait Tim. We are supposedly coming into the driest part of the year (if we're lucky) and not the best time to work on lawns. :)

"Driest part of the year" -- Good one! I'm in Scotland --- nuff said :) ! I suspect it will be autumn before I get a non-raining day and day off work to coincide anyway! :)

I did say 'if we're lucky' Tim. :heehee: I've got similar weather to you here and I don't think it's going to improve either. Today the island has fog, rain and 13C.....that's not summer!

Book the good weather for me please, I'm in Scotland in September! :)
