    Hi all,

Thought I'd better double check with you experts about these marks on my potatoes and tomatoes...

Spuds... (maybe it just means time to uplift?)

    Hey Triffid,

Its always a worry, even if you've seen it year after year.

Think you're ok there, bit of magnesium deficiency and a bit of sun scorch buy the looks of it.

I'm probably just panicking, had a look out my window & just one of my varieties is doing the same thing, if it was blight, all of them would be doing it.

Did I read on the forums that magnesium deficiency is cured by a dose of Epsom Salts???

Yes, Epsom Salts will sort the problem out in a couple of days. If it's just one or two of the lower leaves showing these signs I wouldn't really worry though. You never get a crop with 100% perfect leaves.

To spray with Epsom Salts (ask for Magnesium Sulphate at the chemists - this is the cheapest way to buy it). Dissolve ½ oz in a pint of water (20g/litre) - you don't need to be exact - and apply as a foliar spray each day for a week.
