I was over at RHS Harlow Carr this weekend, squelching through the mud and fishing my children out of puddles. Anyway, I got one of these block paving cleaners in the garden centre - it is great! The brass bristles form a sharp V and scrub weeds out of the gaps without any bending. It was £10, but I would have paid more for it! I'm hoping my neighbour - who has the garden equivalent of cleaning OCD - will approve of me slightly more.

Harlow Carr is a great place - too bad it was obviously wet when you were there. The last time I was there, it was so hot that Bettys had run out of home-made lemonade!

I have to say that brush looks useful - I was given a power washer as a present but find it too agressive for most cleaning tasks.

And yup, I have the gardening equivalent of cleaning OCD too......

Easier to hire a decent pressure washer for a day ( as oposed to the diy karachers), that might get up the odd bit off moss but it would take forever on a normal sized drive.

I don't know about the DIY Karcher's but I have a professional one (bought for cleaning Tyrolean finish many years ago) and it will clean concrete like new. It removes all the algae from the surface (and any loose aggregate as well). It has a pressure of 1500lbs/sq in, that's enough to blast water straight through your skin and into the flesh. You don't play around with that.

Yes - obsessive compulsive disorder. Not a blade of (closely cropped) grass out of place, loads of bare earth with nary a weed seedling in sight. I wouldn't mind, but my "naturalistic planting" (that's a euphemism) looks a bit scruffy by comparison!
