Blood Fish and Bone on new sown seeds?

Is it wise to sprinkle a bit of BFB on some newly sown Leek seeds or is it pointless right now?

I'm starting them off inside in two seed trays with seedling compost.

I would do it much later, maybe after they've been planted out. Generally seedlings in fresh compost will not need fertilising for about 4 weeks and it could do harm.

 

Thanks Madahhlia, I thought it might do harm as it could scorch the seeds maybe. Too much of a good thing and all that.

 

You don't need to feed yet and as Madahhalia says you risk harming them. I give my leek seedlings a feed with weak liquid feed when about a couple of inches tall and feed them again about a week before planting out when about 6 inches tall.

I'll make sure to mix it in then, there a quite a few foxes in our area every night. Great to watch though.

 

i bought a big box of it last week and put it around my palms, plants etc..

it lasted a day before the dog ate it all.

 

did you not mix it/water it in?
