Has anyone been watching this on BBC3 (on now)? I have but missed the first 10 minutes tonight.

Certainly makes you think & i'm glad to see some of the kids on there getting a real shock. Makes you appreciate what we have & also how greedy 'we' in the west are. Of course there are greedy people in the east too.

Going off line now to watch the rest.

    cheers

I watched the first one, but being a bit of a random tv watcher have missed most of the rest.
Actually, knowing a little about this subject, I was surprised at how good the conditions were. I suspect that they were actually filming in better areas - although of course charities etc. working in this area are likely to show the worst ones.
I hate the fact that it's really hard to make sure that people making your clothes are treated well and get a decent wage, and that every time I have to buy clothes I am probably supporting businesses that don't treat people well. I'm trying to find sources of ethical clothes but it's not easy.

Claire, that first episode was in one of the best factories. The conditions have got worse & worse with each episode.

Of course, you have to be aware of 'editing' but it does make to stop & think. The thing is that even if all the workers were paid a decent wage it still shouldn't cost the consumer alot more. It would just mean the 'rich' had to have a little less. I'm not a bleeding heart or anything but i do enjoy programmes like this.

In one episode, whilst sitting in a cafe with the rest of the British, one of the young men was really ranting about the f****** stupid people, f***** sh***le, filthy lot etc. Honestly it was embarrassing to watch. One indian man there understood english & told the lad that it wasn't very nice for him to be talking like that about his country etc. The lad went off it again.

I would like to see how he (the english lad) would react if it happened to him. Still he seems to be changing his mind now & realising that these poor people have no choice.

Sorry if i seemed to go on there:) Just find it a good programme.

    cheers

Must try and catch another episode - I'll check out when it's on.
It's true, seeing the conditions people are working in and thinking that that's where they are right now, this minute, does bring it home in a way that knowing in an academic kind of way might not.
