Is it me, or does the tree blossom seem to be more abundant this year than it was in the past couple of years? The magnolia trees that I see on my travels are absolutely bursting!

I haven't seen any yet. Except some of the blackthorn is starting to bloom. But then up ere, spring will be about 6 weeks later than down where you are.

Blossom appeared around here about 3 weeks ago, but I would say it's still in the early stages so there's lot more to come.:hapfeet::snorky:

My cherry tree was blooming last weekend, the magnolia is just coming into flower and looking good.
I have also seen wild plum in flower round here, blackthorn will flower in the next week or so. Seems to be a good year for blossom so far, I put it down to having a reasonable summer last year.

No blossom here, just a few optimistic buds.

Blosson seems fantastic around these here parts after a mild winter. Gonna have to take some pics.

Last year it was disappointing. A very warm start to the winter with many fruit trees blossoming and daffodils flowering in January. Then it went belly-up... BIG STYLE! Went cold and this lingered for 3 months with ridiculous amounts of heavy rain all the way to mid-July.

It would tempt fate to suggest things will be better this year. But hopefully they will. :th scifD36:

Maybe the blossom in other parts has been affected by last year's adverse conditions?

I tend to think the flowering of blossom is not totally straight forward.
Around here some almond and cherry is out, but some cherry is yet to even show colour,
Blackthorn has been out for two weeks and reaching it's peak.

I once read an article some years ago regarding forsythia, no not Brucie forsythia, but the yellow stuff that flowers around now, and it said that flowering was actually based on how cold the winter was.
In other words, if the winter days were not cold enough for long enough, then flowering would be very poor, in fact it didn't flower hardly at all if it didn't get cold enough.

So I tend to put a good spring show down to a good autumn to ripen the wood followed by a cold, or at least coldish winter, with a definite spring.
