Here's another extract from the Amateur Gardening Magazine,,, some good new this time!!:D

"A rare tree brought a touch of magic to RHS Garden Wisley in Surrey last month when it burst into bloom in the depths of Winter. The Trumpet tree [Tabebuia impetiginosa] flowered profusely after experts at the RHS flagship garden encouraged its pink and purple flowers.

Native to Central and Southern America, where it can grow up to 150ft [46m] tall, the Trumpet tree can only be grown under glass in the UK. The one in the Glass House at Wisley is just 15ft [4.6m] high and until now has never produced more than a few flowers. RHS Glass House team leader Peter Jones said "We've had the tree for five years but it's never put on a display like this before. In it's natural habitat the tree will flower prolifically after a rest period during the dry season, and this year we've managed to re-create that effect at Wisley"

That is a beautiful blooming tree, almost up there with paulownia!

It's always satisfying when something that shouldn't, does!
