Blue acorns?

    Can anybody tell me why these are blue rather than the standard color? They both came from the same tree..

    I think they might be dead, possibly died before forming properly.
    On the otherhand, they might just be ripe and the others are not yet.

    Looks a bit like one of the red oaks?
