Which do you prefer: gorgonzola dolce, blue Danish cheese, Dorset blue or Stilton?

I like all those ... Roquefort cheese served with a glass of good red wine is also one of my favourites

my current 3 favourite cheeses are Quickes extra mature cheddar, Machango spanish cheese and Roussous barrel aged feta cheese (I enjoy the feta drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and some crushed dried oregano) ... all these are sold in my village tesco

we have a really good cheese shop in cambridge, however, whenever I shop there, I don't walk out without spending in excess of £30 :(

Roquefort, or dolcelatte or a nice mild squidgy blue castello, Grommit. Not keen on Stilton though I will eat it if placed in front of me, but that goes for just about anything food-related, not a picky eater, me.

Nice idea about the crushed oregano, *Dim*, I will try that.

I've just been on holiday to Poland and the highlight of the trip was seeing a flock of sheep being hand-milked and then getting a drink of the resulting product, curdled prior to making it into smoked cheese. It tasted disgusting but no way was I leaving any! I just love seeing real food made just the way it used to be made, no factories, just a wooden hut on the mountain side.

I likes Gorgonzola. Once tried to eat a whole stilton, spured on by the full bottle of port i'd drunk. Forgot about the salt content, had to lie down when the shaking became uncontrolable.

Also found a Camembert that had been in a warm desk draw for about 5 weeks, had all sorts of red & green growth on it.

Blimey that one made me sweat:OUCH:

my mother used to be a very good (well known) chef, so we always ate good food ... sadly, I'm now into health food during the week as I go to gym 5 times/week and try to eat balanced and conservative

however, I make up on weekends and eat whatever I feel like eating ... and have a few beers on weekends to make up for the week

I'm also good with a BBQ as spent most of my life in South Africa, and it was a way of life

        :D

I love all those also. It really depends on what I am using them with. Stilton goes well with pears. A hardy blue with steak or on grilled hambergers. And soft gorgonzola goes on salad.

Here is a great dip recipe, so easy to make, and people just love it.

About 4 oz of blue cheese crumbled
          1 cup of sour cream
1 tablespoon of Worshershire sauce (spel)
          1/4 cup of chopped walnuts
mix it all together, sit overnight in fridge. The walnuts absorb some of the sour cream juices.
then get some medium size pretzels, and dip away. Yummy.

I also love all those cheeses you said Dim. And so do my hips. Love a good brie also. There is a lovely cheese shop about 10 mins away, do my best to stay away. Good stuff there.

next time you make a burger, try this blue cheese dressing (from my wife's internet recipes ... we have used this recipe often)....

cook the burger patty on a BBQ or griddle pan or george foreman grill, then prepare the bun (tastes good on those large seeded buns) ... add iceburg lettuce, some raw onion, fresh tomato slices, the burger patty and this blue cheese dressing ontop:

            Ingredients

2 1/2 ounces blue cheese (your favourite one)

            3 tablespoons buttermilk

            3 tablespoons sour cream

            2 tablespoons mayonnaise

2 teaspoons white wine vinegar or cider vinegar

            1/4 teaspoon sugar (I prefer brown/unrefined)

            pinch of garlic powder

salt and freshly ground black pepper

In a small bowl, mash blue cheese and buttermilk together with a fork until mixture resembles large-curd cottage cheese. Stir in sour cream, mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, and garlic powder until well blended. Season to taste with salt and lots of fresh ground black pepper

tastes good with a nice steak or as a salad dressing aswell
