Blue roses

    I call those Lavenden roses. They are more lavender than a blue, at least that is what I've seen.
    And those were in my bridal bouquet.

    I have to agree with Redstar on the colour. If it has cost someone a fortune to develop, then they've wasted their money. There are tons of true blue flowers in nature, so I can't quite see it as they do.

    Yeah definitely a pale purple still, but, looking at the pic in photoshop it shows that they have slightly more blue than red in them

    Urgh.. they are horrid!

    And do we really want genetically modified flowers?

    I can't agree that they are horrid, or that as gardeners we haven't messed around with flowers or plants because we have, but they aren't blue.

    Gardeners have never put petunia genes in roses.. just other rose genes

    Excuse me---the Lavender Roses I've known and love have been around 40 years, and I carried them in my wedding bouquet. They are beautiful. Don't think those then were altered.

    I love 'blue' roses! The Blue Moon is one of my favourites :luv: The rose in the article just looks like a Blue Moon, but I guess it must be different ... at that price :wink:
    Just planted a Rhapsody in Blue, and a Black Baccara (a black rose) - I expect that will just shrivel up in the sun then.. :tnp::o
