    As its Bluebell season, I thought I would post these pictures from Rannerdale, Cumbria (Very close to Crummock Water). These shots are from 2 years ago...I'm still waiting for them to flower this year as they are late.

    That is amazing, Steve, they are beautiful and there are so many of them!

    I thought that they needed some light shade to grow and bloom properly but your pics show that they are obviously happy out in the open. Probably to enjoy that magnificent countryside.

    The history of this valley is that it was covered in Oak trees, hence the Bluebells under them, but the trees have long since gone due to the many mines in the area...and thankfully the Bluebells have remained and thrived!

    The only problem is that the pictures do not do the valley justice, it has to be seen to be believed.

    I have an new wider angle lens this year however so I'm waiting for the flowering to see if I can improve on the shot...even make a panoramic or two.

    Lovely blue bells, I just love the smell of them,spent the weekend at youngest daughters East Sussex they two have a lot of blue bells but...all you can smell there is wild garlic ! did pinch some tho, I think you use the leaves any way planted it will now wait and see.
