My mum gave me a blueberry bush that was planted about a year ago, so from what i have read doesnt need pruning this year, however, it isnt doing very well! Any tips for how to bring it back to life for next year? xx

Are you growing them in ericaceous compost or soil? I know they need it to grow properly. I gorw mine in pots as the soil here isn't suitable for them otherwise. So I've been told.

Plenty of water. I have mine in a ordinary plant pot, and its spent most of the summer stood in an old saucepan of rain water. I have had to top it up with tap water occasionally, and I take it out of the water for a day or two per week, so that it has a chance of drying out and not getting totally waterlogged.

They also like to be restricted in root growth so I'm told, I think its the theory of it puts the plant under a little stress and therefore produces more fruit.

    Hope this Helps!

Mine breaks all the rules, but still thrives. Its not in ericaceous compost, gets no more water than everything else and often its compost gets very dry for a few days, and when I do water it it just gets tap water like everything else.

Mine is in a sunny, sheltered spot though. That might have something to do with it. Also when I mixed it's compost I seem to recall putting a few good hand fulls of chicken poo pellets in there.
