At the back end of last year, I bought four blueberry shrubs from Ashridge Trees, at the same time as buying a load of other stuff (raspberries, logan berries, plum tree etc), and everything seems to be thriving bar one blueberry.

All of the blueberries are planted in large barrel planters, filled with ericaceous compost (fresh at time of planting), and have been subsequently fed with iron sulphate as per instructions, as well as the odd wee handful of chicken manure. For some reason though, the pink lemonade variety took properly poorly and has gone right downhill -- it flowered, and formed fruits but then those fruits shrivelled up and the leaves fell off. Here it is looking positively sorry for itself:

    Here are the rest

And here are the fruits collected by Mrs C this evening, which includes blueberries from the other shrubs

Any ideas what could be wrong, and is it fixable?

They are lovely :) - totally different tastes in each variety too; the small blueberries are quite tart, the big ones are sweet and aromatic, and it is a similar story with the loganberries and raspberries.

I can see the fruit plant collection growing next year......

I went to a new-to-me garden centre the other week and they had a blueberry TREE (well a very large bush masquerading as a tree) positively LADEN with berries. I was thinking of getting one, so I tasted a berry ... it was DE-LISH!! ... then I thought some more about getting one, and tasted another berry ... after a bit more consideration, I tasted another berry ... and then a guy appears from nowhere and said: "Are you going to buy that or just eat it?"

          No, I didn't -
          1) I was too thankful he didn't have me arrested for theft or gluttony or something and
          2) it would never have fitted in my car it was so huge!

No web presence yet, but I think that is only a matter of time.

Your weather must be on a par with Scotland though @Greecko? I reckon that you will be a good three to four weeks behind us, and mine are only just getting ripe now.

You could ask Ashridge for a refund FC, as your other fruit bushes look in excellent condition and you've treated them the same.

I could, but to be totally honest I don't think it is in any way down to them - I have probably done something that this particular variety doesn't like, question is what..... I cannot fault Ashridge in terms of the quality of the plants supplied - everything was absolutely spot on, to the point that I am currently looking at their site and scheming..... I mean planning :coughs: what to get later this year

That's very honest FC, you could still ask them what could have gone wrong, they might replace it for free if you order some other plants at the same time.

I have no issue complaining or seeking a refund where it is due, but I wouldn't feel right chasing a refund when I know in my heart that the plant was absolutely top notch when it was delivered. Interestingly, they no longer list that variety, which makes me wonder if there were complications along the line somewhere.

I am almost certain to be ordering redcurrants, more loganberries, tayberries and probably some raspberries and blackberries (although, can I take cuttings off the ones I already have, bearing in mind they are in their first year?) - I might ask them for pointers then, and I am sure they would come back with good advice. They are one of a few companies that I would not hesitate to go back to.

Yeh it definitely would be I'd say, wet and windy, plus we definitely never get the kind of sunshine or heat that England does, ever :P It'll be a month I would say unfortunately

Hmmmm weird fat controller. My mum killed ours by watering it with tap water because she forgot it should only be watered with rain water lol

If you wanted to get another one yougarden do three 9cm pot plants for £20 so at least you will have two back ups lol
