Jeez Banana Man - I've never seen such wonderful plants all together. Are you sure you don't live in Kew Gardens??

Don't ever ask me to look after them while you go away though - I've a mean reputation for killing anything in a pot [IMG]

Do you get many gorillas passing through

Hhrrrmmm, excuse me whilst I clear my throat, Babe ...

They are fabulous as always and I can feel the coolness under the trees. Although I love my shade, there is no comparison ... but then you've got a couple of years on me in planting and a moister climate for these beauties.

Thanks for letting us enjoy them with you. [IMG]

I see Jelly is enjoying the undergrowth as well. [IMG] xx

B.M. do you grow all these plants outside? I've always assumed they were in a conservatory or something similar. If they are all outside, how do you manage it? I bought a banana plant last year and kept it covered with fuzzy stuff during the winter but it has disappeared on me. Do you have a mild winter then?

Winters are mixed, but my structural planting in terms of trees etc, has given me an advantage over most. We are milder than some, but also wet because of the clay, which can be worse. Only things that get protected are the tree ferns and the bananas. The tree ferns get old fronds or with the more exposed TF's they get topped, a towel and a plant pot for good measure. The bananas have their own house which will take the infant washingtonias I am growing on this year and also the brug which was a 2007 purchase. The bananas would be fine, but as I have had flowers for the last 2 years they over winter well in my little construction. I get no leaf loss with a small 80watt flood light for the colder nights, it rides the right side of freezing. Partially made of PVC sheets it warms very quickly once the sun appears :D
