Looking through some of my experimental shots from last nights shooting, and thought I would show you the crop of bananas growing this year. Ignore the test quality of the photos, just see the amount of baby bananas. Best crop I have had. [IMG]

Amazing, BM! I remember being completely astounded when I saw bananas growing in a glasshouse in one of the botanic gardens when I was a kid - so to think of them growing out in someone's garden is just incredible! :D

It is funny that the bananas stop at the point where the banana house went up. The flowers were not pollented during their appearance and falling. As the outer petals fall off to make way for the next wave, they leave a scar on the stem. I think as it warms up in to march, and the roof comes off periodically to air, insects will fly in to taste the unusual flowers and new bananas will apear further down. [IMG]

What you can do windy is put a wet bath sponge on top of the pot so that the water oozes rather than like you say runs down the shrunken sides. Plus they only need like half a cup just to wet their whistle. :D

Love the pictures BM, and would like to have a go with a banana plant, however (and I shrink from admitting this to you) I don't really like bannanas, so I would like to grow one with red leaves more for foliage than fruit.

Now thinking about it, your outside lav (as I call it) does not let any light in, so I suppose then now Mr Waco has let me develop my tropical ideas, they could go on the hot concrete apron in summer and in the stable winter, still leaving the greenhouse relitively uncluttered for his nude sunbathing - perhaps I should grow a few fig leaves too though ;)
