Has anyone tried doing hard / soft boiled eggs in the steamer?

I'm trying it now. We're having curry for tea, and we always cook the rice in the steamer. I've often thought it's a tragic waste of energy using one tier of the three tier steamer and all that hot steam just comes out the top, totally wasted. So I whacked the second tier on and chucked a couple of eggs in. I'm totally guessing about the timing, allowing them the 20 minutes that's remaining on the timer for the rice. I did find one article online that suggests a very precise 16 minutes, but it doesn't say anything about the type of steamer or how well done the eggs will be.

Has anyone else tried this? Any tips on timing or anything else?

My plan is, if it works out, in future I'll put loads in when there's a spare tier while something else is cooking, because boiled eggs keep for a few days in the fridge.
