Never heard of it googled it and found this, http://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/Bomarea apparently Bomarea salsilla does well in a pot but will grow in any soil in full light and is hardy in the south of England. Once it has flowered it will go dormant below ground and reappear the following season.
The one I've got is Bomarea caldasii. Allegedly a sort of climbing alstromeria thingy - am just going to plant it in my sunniest bed against South wall & hope for best - will try & post photos later if it does anything!
