Hello - I'm the new kid on the block.

I live in France with hubby. He is looking forward to becoming an old age pensioner this year and getting the government to pay him for a change. I am his child bride just the wrong side of 58. He is renovating the house and I am creating a garden from a field - well trying to anyway. We inherited some old fruit trees, a couple of christmas trees and seven oak trees (now down to six). The rest was waist high weeds and nettles and a mountain of building materials. After 4 years of work we are beginning to see the fruits of our labours - pictures to follow another day.

Talking of fruit - I've posted a query about our pear trees and hope someone can help.

I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all and sharing some gardening experiences. I would like to have a go at the photographic competition too - although the standard is very high for me, but I'll give it a go.

That's about all really - unless you would like to ask me anything.

    Bye. Kryssy.

    Welcome kryssy,

You will find this a really welcoming and easy to use site in my experience.

Can't help with the pear tree's myself but I'm sure someone will.

I'm starting to get very jealous of all these gardener's who live in France! [IMG]

Welcome from warm and not so sunny Portugal, kryssy.

There are several of us here who have been down the road of renovating and tackling unkempt weed-infested land with builders' rubble for added interest.

The photography comps are great fun ... I only learned how to use a digital camera last year ... well, I'm still learning how to use it! [IMG]

    Enjoy!

Thank you all for your kind welcome.

TO:- Don't be too jealous about living here - we've had quite a bit of rain this last month - not as much as you but enough to give us all the miseries. It's reasonably hot though so we don't moan too much.

Hyla arborea:- Salut et merci. We live in Haute Vienne, just north of Limoges. Have friends in Lot et Garonne - beautiful place. A bientot.

I'll try to post a "then" and "now" photo of our garden just as soon as I can dig out a "then" picture. I'm quite proud of what I've done - and hubby of course although he does all the building work. I'm chief weeder - which I actually love doing....... ........... and project manager. It's got so the outside is better than the inside of the house. Oh well, not to worry.

    Bye for now
    Kryssy

    Thank you Paladin.
I've been looking at some of your work - wow!! Don't say anything but it was your photos which inspired me to enter - they are wonderful. Mind you, I'm not getting the weeding done while I'm messing with my PSP.

Hope you get to visit soon - bring some drier weather with you!!
