Bonsai Anyone??

Hi,
Is there any Bonsai enthusiasts on here??

 

I have recently fallen in love with gardening and all things green, including bonsai. My son gave me one for my last birthday, a Serrisa Foetida, tree of a thousand stars, I then purchased a chinese elm. Both common I believe for starters. So far, all seems really well with both of them, but the Serrisa hasn't flowered as yet? perhaps you can tell me what is wrong, they are both fed regularly, and all the watering is done to the book, so I am at a loss to understand why no flowers?
