bonsai tree

hi has anyone got any experience with these trees , we have just started and would like some good advice on what to do next thanks ..

 

looks like a pine tree of some sort... best outside in the garden watch out for slugs and snails

 

its a bonsai cherry blossom , but we have no experience with these trees and looking for advice.

 

Where did you get the seeds and what did they look like?

 

The seeds are from a kit ..

 

I think @Spruce is right, it looks more like a pine than a cherry.
Did it come from China.

 

It came through amazon UK.. all packets of seeds are with names according to the box ..

 

So what name did that packet have on it.

 

@Gizmo I would highly recommend getting a few second hand bonsai books, and search the internet for pictures of the bonsai tree you are growing and find a shape that you like and use it as a template.

 

I know folks like to grow things from seed. Just let them grow on and don't interfere they'll be in that pot for quite some time yet. If your looking to get into Bonsai search for your local club society. If its a cherry tree you are after then garden centres sometimes have nice pieces hunt down Kojo no mai (Japanese Cherry) something with a nice shape/ movement and a nice trunk

I think the case with all this is, that you get to grow just regular tree from a seed. And you'll form in into bonsai once it's big enough

 

Agreed, if it was a cherry the seed would not be visible and it would have been a cherry stone.

 

still need to go outside ... asap otherwise they will go leggy ... I bet its a larch

 

I think seeds is a good start but probably will take the longest to get a good specimen. See if you can find a nice sapling in spring or have a go at air layering (if I can do it anyone can) and that can give you a few years start. I went the way of buying one but I killed it luckily I didn't pay a lot.
