I did not even know that cabbages could do this! Have had them in since October and, just before the hot spell, they seemed to 'hearting up' and getting ready to be cabbages. Now, they have all bolted and are useless according to everything that I have read. Not happy!

Yes the dry hot weather is making them bolt early. You can eat the leaves as 'spring greens' sterile.

I've had the same problem, not with all of them, but about 6. Not suprised after them sitting in snow for a month & then going into dry weather. Bit of a shock for them. Cabbages evolved by the coast & would rarely have to sit under snow there.

Pick all the greens you can, including the florrets, chop finely, blanch in boiling water for 2 mins (add a teaspoon of citric acid) and then open freeze before packing into freezer bags.

At least you will have veg to be going on with. Or making sauerkraut is another option.
