Had to strip this down to replace the scraper which fits at the base of the helix cutting blade. Now I need to put the machine back together and find that the grease in the gears needs replacing. Bright green stuff, but what is it?
    Anyone know?
    TIA

Bright green stuff sounds like swarfega but that's to remove grease, not replace.

Could it be grease that has been tinted by what you've been shredding Palustris?

No, the grease is made to be green. We think it is a high temperature, resistant to centrifugal force type used in gears and couplings. But there are dozens of different ones.

Well Duckhams oil used to be green .Can you still buy Duckhams ? Never seen grease that colour though.
We use Molybdenum Disulphide Grease in high force gearboxes .

      Thanks.
All that there is in the part where the grease is found is a couple of cogs and the spindle which drives the cutting blade, so no gears as such. The grease has to be high temperature stuff so that it does not melt and run down into the electric motor which is below the cogs.
You think the Molybdenum Disulphide Grease would do it?
We are hoping to go to a main dealers tomorrow (coincidence, it is where we buy our Garden supplies from and I need some potting compost.) I will ask them what they use, but they may not be able to tell me as they send Bosch stuff off to their main shop.
Good job the weather is too bad to do any shredding though!

Palustris , I'm not sure if Moli Di grease is very high temp . As John said above better get the correct specification from the dealer.

The main dealer who also repair these use a high temperature Lithium grease, so that is what I have got. Thanks for responses.
