i have two full standard Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Boulevard' and they have gone brown i think it was the wind, but there are patches of green left which are still growing, so i know its not dead,

does anyone know if it was the wind or anything else, also will they come back?

    they are potted

Hi Mikey and welcome, Boulevard are susceptible to wind scorch, but I think the question is, how bad is the damage? If it is just on the outside of the plant I would suggest giving it a trim. But if the damage covers most of the plant and goes back to the main stem then I would say bin them. You could try cutting out the damaged parts and see what happens, but with standards I doubt if it will look prety. David.

It seems a strange time of the year to be getting wind scorch.
A had a largish plant of this sometime ago that grew really well for years, suddenly one year it all turned brown and died.
Never did find out the problem.
Sorry not much help. [IMG]

Are you sure they didn't get too dry at any stage Mike

Hi Mikey as Pete and Daith says wind scortch is the likely problem, probably dried out being in a pot difficult to maintain a stable watering regime in a pot you only have to slip up once and you have a problem, it's unlikely they will come back good they will be misshapen were all the dead bits are, if you have a lot of stuff in pots consider dip feed watering in summer.
