    Welcome to GC Westiesj,
Bougainvilleas are not that difficult from cuttings provided you have access to a heated propagator as they need a rooting temperature of around 23/25c. Cuttings are best taken as a side shoot, pulled away from a stem (a heal cutting) which would root more quickly. Ideally they should be approx 4/6" long, leaving 4/5 leaves at the top. Bougainvilleas dislike root disturbance so strike cuttings singly in small 3" pots. I root mine in either a mix of peat and sand or peat and medium vermiculite, not tried peat free yet.
With luck they should have produced roots by the third week. I would not expose them to the air untill roots are showing at the bottom of the pot otherwise they could dry up and collapse.
Others may have different methods but this one works for me.
    Hope this helps.:)
