Easiest way of clearing a forest of them please?

No doubt once removed my new allotment will bring me many years of pleasure [IMG]

Cut them 2 the ground then wait for them 2 ree shoot. Once the shoots are around 2' spray with roundup, leave a fortnight then spray again.

Cultivate as you wish either rotovating and raking off the roots or forking and removing them.

One of the professionals will tell you about some three lettered weed killer that us amateurs can never remember. I'm sure you are right about years of pleasure. (Then again you could dig it out, if you like hard, organic work). :D

Cheers Paul, we have roundup, dunno whether the other allotmenteers frown upon chemical use or not. The patch has been neglected for at least 10 years so drastic measures are required!

I could dig it out John but the sound of the 3 letter weedkiller sounds more tempting to my fragile back! :D

Six weeks after SBK use before you can re-plant, can't get info for roundup brushwood weedkiller, assuming it's about the same, think I'll have to mix back breaking digging and weedkilling to suit the growing season?

You can replant any time after using "round up"(Glyphosate).
It becomes in active when it comes in contact with soil.

Should add that the weeds dont die immediately, they can take a few weeks.
But once dead the soil is OK to replant.

    Hence my 6 weeks?

No reason why I can't start my veggies off in the greenhouse though? [IMG]
