Just heard on the BBC news that former Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy has passed away at his Fort William home aged 55 .This is no age to die but it is reckoned that there are no suspicious reason for the death. My Condolances go to his family at this sad time...

Agreed, that is young: but most likely due to his lifestyle choices :frown:

        RIP Charles

A great shame; he was a thoroughly decent man, and had a humour and warmth about him that is simply lacking in the vast majority of politicians.

              RIP

I didn't realise that he lost his father while the campaign was on which must have knocked him down, but everyone who was talking about him on the TV and radio programmes all said what a kind decent man he was and he cared deeply about people in general and was a genuine person.

It is a shame though that his alcohol problems caused the break up of his marriage and now his ten year old son will no doubt miss his dad and all the things they would probably have done together as father and son as his son grew up....

A pity, I liked him. Seemed a decent sort.

He was courageous to buck the trend and vote against the war in Iraq.
Whether we agree or not with the cause, it takes courage to follow your principles and swim against the tide. I admired him for this and will miss his opinions on the politics of the day. RIP.
