    Morning all :)
I’m planning to edge my border with bricks and have everything I need…..except the bricks! Went to B&Q earlier and they weirdly didn’t have any ‘normal’ bricks (to my eyes anyway). I was just looking for red bricks that I can mortar into place in a curve. Does anyone have any ideas about the best type of bricks to use and where to find them? B&Q had ‘driveway blocks’, is that a good idea? Apologies for being so clueless :noidea:

If you just want bricks then a builders merchant like Jewson's or the like (Travis Perkins).

We used block pavers from Jewson's. They stand up better than bricks to extremes of weather. They look like bricks. The old path had bricks but a lot were crumbling apart.

I made my lawn edging from block pavers as well. I think they came from Homebase.
Here's a pic from when I'd lifted and re-laid a section to get more border space (ignore the state of the lawn, it had been a dry summer that year)

Oh that looks great, thanks Jenny! Good idea to lay the bricks lengthwise to make it easier to do the curves as well :)

Common house bricks don't stand up to frost and being wet.
Either go for paving blocks or if you really want normal looking bricks, engineering bricks.

That’s looks great Jenny and is exactly what I am contemplating doing this weekend
I need to make one of my borders bigger to allow room for some Dahlias I am currently growing.
I was going to use house bricks until I read this thread, but I do have some block pavers exactly like yours behind the garage (not enough for the job, so will have to get some more).
Can I ask, did you cement them in? How exactly did you lay them?
              Thanks.

I haven't cemented in my brick border edges....which is just as well as I've moved them three times to increase the size of the borders....and can't rule out doing it again! :heehee: They're just set on firmed soil, fine as long as you don't lean on them!
