Bridge Cameras?

This is just Woo's honest and unbiased opinion

Good morning all my friends ,yes its that old chestnut again Bridge Cameras yes or no,well as an amateur photographer and an avid fan I am for the bridge Camera 100%, I am fortunate in that many Bridge cameras have passed through my hands ie Cannon SX30/Sx40/Sx50,
Panasonic FZ 38 /FZ48 and a few more,Fuji S2980/S8500/HS50EXR

I have a Cannon SX50 and I am waiting until January 2014 for a whole new batch to be released ie Cannon SX60 Fuji will also release a new Bridge camera in January as will many others at the CP+Camera&Photo Imaging

a CMOS sensor lovely camera,(complementary metal oxide semiconductor)

My problem is [and not just with Bridge Cameras] that certain camera companies are in the mass production mode where they keep churning out month after month "new, improved, up-dated" models that despite all the hype are almost exactly like the last model. I'd rather see real improvements made to cameras for advancements sake rather than for the marketing sake.

Hi I see differently,I think we are very fortunate that we have so much choice having been a photographer (of sorts) for many years,and to live in this technological revolution I just love to see all these new cameras,and most of them have improvements on the previous
models its called progress and its exactly the same for all other commodities ie Cars,vacuum cleaners ect

I for one spent 1000's of hours in a dark room and loading film in the rain with a 21/4 x 2/4 square camera(Yashica) matt twin lens reflex,three cheers for progress

 

Good evening Mowgley the FZ200 has a F2.8 all through the range from 24 x 600 which is outstanding,also the Fuji SL1000 is not bad but image quality is not as sharp as the Canon,I have the Canon SX50 and the only negative thing I can say about it is that I find it a little on the small side for me (Big Hands)but in all other aspects it is one of the best

 

I agree with you, Woo. It's just that there is a lot of churning cameras out with very little difference to the last model and I'm not the only one thinking so. A lot of the reviews by the professionals are high lighting just that and wondering why in fact such a slight improvement was made instead of waiting to incorporate more effective upgrades. A lot of them are using the same sensor, AF, software, etc as the previous and all that's happened is a change in the operating system to such as Android, or upgrade in the pixels of the monitor. There's a lot of great cameras being brought out with great improvements but in that mix are some that are cosmetically improved just to keep the market interest bubbling.

 

I'm not so sure about that, mowgley!!!! I use the Pentax Forum and the Amateur Photographer Magazine Forum and when they announced the introduction of the K3 last month the reaction was one of Pentax owners who were really happy with whatever camera they had were now foaming at the mouth, were having panic attacks that they might not be able to get the limited edition Silver model of the K3, had placed their orders before the camera was even on the market................it's very interesting to see how snobbish, greedy, keeping up with the Jones's photographers can be

 

Hi Mowgley, I bought my K5 last year and I'm very happy with it and the range of legacy and new lenses I can use with it. Having said that within months of me buying it Ricoh, [the company that had just taken over Pentax....for the better] decided to upgrade it by taking the anti-aliasing filter off the sensor whilst also upgrading the sensor and calling it the K5iiS. Out of curiosity I tried the new camera and I could find no real difference in the image quality.....or at least none to make me put my hand on my wallet. The K3 is another matter as it is a great upgrade with a 50% increase in megapixels, no anti-aliasing filter, ability to use a FLU card and an ordinary card at the same time, a much better AF system, a system that will allow the use of anti moire, a slightly bigger LCD monitor, and various major increases in other areas. But it will be a while before I hanker after getting a K3 as, like you, I'm happy with what I've got!!
