Well it might not be mine, but the favourite rose I have growing in my garden has to be Arthur Bell. Taken today.

Lovely BM If I could only live with one plant then it would have to be a rose ..... but i am very fickle, so tomorrow it could be a daisy!

Favourite rose, BM? Hmm, well that's like asking what is your favourite food. Can't honestly say, but if pushed I would go for the Mayor of Casterbridge. Lovely colour and shape, flowers like mad with hundreds of blooms over a long period on strong stems. Mine is about 6 foot high and wide. Doesn't get blackspot either.

Not in flower yet and so this photo is from last summer.

I like roses....in someone else's garden. The flowers are great, but all tat bare earth around them seems such a waste of space.

Hey Rich - you can always underplant. No need to have bare earth anywhere and roses look much better for some groundcover. See earlier post on underplanting and colours.

Having seen your lovely tree I was just browsing at your holiday cottage, looks lovely BTW. My wife says she needs a holiday and i have never holiday'd in yorkshire, my goodness its popular! I think the first available week is september time.

Was going to photo my rhapsody in blue and a climbing white that has no name today but it has showered most of the day. :(

The rose was my birthday gift to my father the year he died 1990, this picture was taken a couple of years ago. this year we have had to drastically reduce the rose to help both the rose and apple tree, but it is still very beautiful.

As to rhapsody in blue, I saw it in a display after it won an award, but I have to say I am very iffy about blue roses. I have just unplanted my herb bed and planted formal rose bed.

Our garden was a complete wreck after builders, and so I am having to re organise beds, but according to christopher Lloyd you should do this every now and again anyway, its just I did not need it to be this year after my accident.

Yes its a popular little holiday cottage, but you are welcome and if it is out of season I can discount it by not going through agent.
