We really enjoyed the Hungarian shadow act as well Victoria . It was very skilfully performed , with quite a sad little story line. Really good viewing :dbgrtmb:

I watched Alice Fredenham perform "My Funny Valentine". She was so nervous it was almost painful but she will turn into a fabulous singer. She started off a touch wobbly but once she got into the song the amount of feeling she put into it was amazing. I would buy her CD's :dbgrtmb:

I hope this will play. Just tried it and it does. :blue thumb:

          It works.

Not only does she have a good voice but she has stage presence! :blue thumb: Something that Alice will need to acquire.

I never watch the programme, but I thought I'd have a look and see what i'm missing.
Just struggle to understand why modern "talent" has to be so miserable.

If I was thinking of committing suicide I'm sure listening to that lot would have pushed me right over the edge.

The song "My Funny Valentine" is considered to be one of the great jazz classics that has been adapted to many other genres. Alice performed it in jazz/blues style and did a very good job of it.

The song was written by Rodgers and Hart for the 1937 musical "Babes in Arms" (which also include famous songs such as "Lady is a Tramp", made more famous in the hit film "Pal Joey", "Wish I Were In Love Again", "Where Or When" and "Johnny One Note").

"My Funny Valentine" has been recorded well over a thousand times! Some of the artists are:- Judy Garland (original version in 1937 in the musical), Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, Tony Bennett, Bing Crosby, Sammy Davis Jr, Billie Eckstein, Barbara (now Barbra :heehee:) Streisand, Johnny Mathis, Sting, Elvis Costello, Chaka Khan etc

It was also used in a number of films including "The Fabulous Baker Boys" and "The Talented Mr Ripley".

Sorry about all that info :). Those of you that follow the music threads know that I used to sell records and tend to give the history of songs and their links to others. :heehee:
