Britain's smallest

    Is this Britain's smallest wild flower? The pearlwort is seen here growing beteen paving slabs with a match stick to give scale. Wild flowers are EVERYWHERE - even in city centres. You just have to look for them. :D

    It is called pearlwort from the spherical buds and seed capsules

    Probably the flower of duckweed is smaller still.

    Not a particular favourite of mine Hornbeam, it grows every where especially on the tops of my pots, completely covers some and not easy to get rid of.
    Still it is as you say a pretty small flower and unusual in that respect. [​IMG]

    I too have spent many hours pulling these from the tops of pots when working on nurseries.

    Since being freed from the shackles of oppressive,blinkered employment, I can see the truth of their symphony of understated beauty. [​IMG]
