    Morning all.

I'm going to grow a load of broad beans this year. I've never grown them before but my dad always grows them, and I've often remarked on how pretty their flowers are. I can't remember how long it is between them being in full bloom and the pods being harvested though, and I can't remember if they go through an ugly phase and if so for how long.

What do we reckon? Broadies in the flower bed?

I would agree with you in the most part CL. Keep them near to hand or close to a walk way if you wish to reap the rewards of growing fine beans in the border. Also companion planting will help reduce the need to spray the beans against black fly. Try Marigolds:blue thumb:

Yeah, I would give them a try, but they're definitely not pretty with blackfly on.
