    Hi,

I am growing a number of sunflowers and have them in my greenhouse at the moment (just started to harden off).
The tall singles are about 3.5' at the moment and it's getting a bit busy in the GH.
I have just been out to water the plants and a pot fell from a ledge onto the sunflower.
The sunflower was tied to a stake about 6 inches from the base and has snapped from that point.

I read somewhere that if bound with tape, broken sunflowers can heel themselves. Is this true?
The snap happened below the feeding leaves.
Am I just better off to just plant the snapped plant into compost and hope for the best?
I have taped it up, but am not to sure. Any advice?

    Cheers

I would try the tape, I snapped off one of the stems of my clematis at the base last year, I taped it up with masking tape and it was fine

I have sellotaped several broken sunflowers over the years, and all have survived - the miracle of nature!!!
