bromeliad propagation

    a seed pod on my brom has produced a lot of dandelion type seeds and i was wondering what is the best way to get these to germinate.

    GHi NI,

    Well not sure which Bromelaid you have as there are several different one it could be.. If they are Dandelion type looking seeds then they would be airborn in the natural environment so would come to rest on top of the soil pretty much..

    I have only ever propagated mine by pups that they have put out & I have potted them up on their own.... I have however been having a little look for you & I did come across this information...

    :scratch: Pretty certain you have a Vriesea Bromelaid there NI.. Looks Happy in it's environment too.. :D

    :scratch: Yes it looks like you might have one on the left at the back... You need to let them get established first then start watering down their centre a month or so before you separate it from the mother but it needs to put some roots of it's own down first so don't be in too much of a hurry... :wink: I think it does refer to them in the lit' I gave you... :gnthb:
