    Cytisus Praecox (Broom)

Can you take cuttings from it and how to prune please, it's getting a bit thin at the bottom as it has growen through a Hebe so all flowers are at the top

According to the RHS you can propagate from cuttings and fall into pruning group 1 (you can click through the link).

      You're welcome :)

A much underrated shrub - mine's just coming into bloom and shortly will be wafting it's lovely scent around.

Surprised you didn't go for Cytisus battandieri Al!

All Cytisus are wonderful plants though, there's something about them which screams sunshine!

I own Cytisus (Genista) 'porlock'.. would appear to be a cross between Cytisus racemosus and another plant from the genus. Still a wonderful smell however.

The flowers can be used to make a nice wine, and it's a lot easier on one's fingers than picking Gorse flowers.
