These are pics of my Rhododendron ‘Eucharitist ‘ in a sloped shady corner of my front garden. Some of the flower buds low down are brown with some crispy dry leaves, a few leaves dropped when I gently touched it. It’s got ericaceous soil around it and it’s been watered plenty plus rainfall so the soil is always moist. The soil is between PH 5 to 6.5 PH. It’s only been planted just over a week and has gone downhill quite quickly, what am I doing wrong ?

Could it be frost damage, has it been frosted since planting.

Hi this one has had no frost only rain here in South Wales, I’m not in the valleys though where it might still get frost.

I'm wondering if it has a disease called Rhododendron bud blast. Its just a thought, give it a google and see what you think.

Yes Pete I think it could be bud blast. I will pick off the brown buds and maybe get an insecticide spray to see if it helps.
    Thank you

And also if it does have bud blast then it was already diseased at the garden centre where I bought it from, not too happy with them, will have to inspect what I buy more carefully.
