    Hi

First time poster and short-time gardener please so all help gratefully received.

In the last few weeks I've noticed brown patches on the leaves of my dwarf fan palm which is in a large pot in my back garden (south-facing).

Also (probably unrelated) large brown, presumably dead, areas on my conifers.
Can I cut these out - how do I treat?

    Any ideas for treating folks?

    Regards

regards to the palm i was told over watering although im am not sure about it mine started the same way its dead now though

although they may be some truth in it as i noticed in the wetter months the palms leaves go the same as yours in the drier months the palms leaves growing were nice and green ( the bad bits never heal) if you can its too late for mine i would greenhouse from october to april and get out in the summer even without the cold they dont seem to like a wet saturated pot for weeks on end

not sure on the conifers mine have gone the same due to dog peeing up them but yours look a bit too high up to be from a dog

The conifers won't recover once the die back starts, pruning won't solve the problem either as they won't re-grow.

If it was me I'd dig them out and start again with something new.

They look like just old leaves on the palm, so I wouldn't worry too much, as long as new ones are forming.

As to the conifer, I've seen a lot of this type around, a very bright green.
I've also noticed that they tend to get brown patches.

I'm not sure this is a reliable cultivar, but I think the brightness of the foliage makes it a good seller.
