I have a pepper plant that I have successfully had fruit from last year. It was some mini variety of red (bell?) pepper. I kept the plant over winter. It has been indoors since it sprouted.

This year I thought I'd have lots of peppers because it had lots of flowers, but now it's going horribly wrong. There is one lovely pepper that is green and growing larger, just like last year, but the others peppers are looking pretty inedible - certainly not like last year. Some have turned completely brown whilst they were still small. Others look like something's mutated near the end that they are attached to, some bits bulbous, some brown, and the rest of the pepper is green.

I thought it was maybe blossom end rot but it doesn't look like the photos on the internet, and the end the pepper starts to go weird on is not the "blossom" end, it's the end that is still attached to the plant.

    What could it be please?

We need a picture, but I guess the plant cant cope with more than one pepper at a time.
I've never overwintered sweet peppers, I know a lot of people do overwinter Chillis.

    Hi JW,

Might need potting into a bigger pot with some fresh compost, they are very hungry plants & will have used up most of the nutrient.

Try to do it without disturbing the root ball, just bury the rootball in new compost. It'll need regular feeding while its flowering/fruiting.

Hopefully that should sort the stress out with new growth in a few weeks time.

You are doing well, only 2 of my overwintered peppers have survived, greenfly took out the others.

I've got one green pepper set, about 3" long.

I repotted the overwintered chillies about 3 weeks ago and, apart from the ants that moved into the pot, its picking up great now, lots of flowers & new growth and setting several chillies.
