Walnut would answer any brug questions D & D. He is the father of all brugs. (Or at least the ones owned by GC members). He comes on early morning so last thing tonight put a post on this thread to shoot it up the list and he will catch it

Hi D&D yes they are very fast growers, they are very greedy feeders and with the right treatment should flower this year, the ones in the garden center are probably the Suaveolens type, they can be overwintered cut back and brought inside and kept frost free until spring, I am trying a couple of varieties outside this year to see how they go on but as a back up cuttings were taken in October grown on through the winter. If you go on to the Brugmansia thread in any other plants I will post a couple of pics.

I've got some brugmansia seeds D&D. PM me if you're interested. They are B. Insignis hybrid and appear to be pale yellow (I haven't grown them before, but have some germinating on my windowsill as I type).

D&D there are about 7 main species of brugmansia the one that Tiarella has described is probably insignis crossed with suaveolens,it will have flowers up to 16" long and will have a delightful fragrance, they all have a nice fragrance except the sanguineas they have no scent but make up for this with their stunning triple colours,my favourite scented one is the arborea a small flower (7") but a wonderful aroma, all species are frost tender except the arborea and sanguinea they will recover after a slight frost,I have posted a couple of pics on the brug thread of a suaveolens type this flower has some b.candida genes .
