I've had this problem before but can't find the link nor remember the remedy ...

I have three Brugs ... Charlie in the ground, Pink, a Suaveons I've had for years and a year-old baby of Pink who has had first flowers this year. The Pink family sit either side of Charlie but are in pots about a meter away on either side. Charlie and Pink look great but Baby Pink's leaves have developed a whitish 'film' on them, new leaves healthy and then they change.

Wayne, et al ... any thoughts/advice please would be gratefully appreciated. :love30:

this has happened to mine and i presumed it is where the leaves have been scorched by the sun after moving it outside

I did try to move it outside on an overcast day but oh well

if im wrong tho it would be good to know what it is

Hi Dips, mine live permanently outdoors where they get early afternoon and late afternoon sun but not 'heat of the day' sun. In saying that, Brugs tree size with hundreds/thousands of flowers live here in the 'wild' some unattended in full-day sun ...

Have you got a picture Victoria?

When you say whitish film do you mean it rubs off.
If so it sounds like some kind of mildew, I get it often on begoinias late season.
Usually put it down to being a bit too dry at the roots.

A fungicide spray usually sorts it out.

      Hiya Pete

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow before we go out and post.

It looks like mildew and is on the same patio where we had that grape vine that did wonders and fruited and then everything got mildew ... but we don't know from where ... ???

It is watered daily at the moment as we are high 20s hitting 30c this weekend with low humidity.

You know I won't use fungicide ... soapy water?

Top two pictures are of the affected plant, the third is of the parent and the fourth is Charlie, both healthy.

If it tends to rub off I can only think its mildew.
The spores are in the air, some plants are more susceptible than others, due to growing conditions, so it doesn't actually come from somewhere, its around all the time.

Strange it is affecting one out of three ... ?

T'other half made a comment that the year before last and a couple before this was the patio where his grapevine grew ... it was prolific and produced lots of grapes, then suddenly it got this 'film' and we lost everything.

I'll try the milk spray tomorrow evening. Thanks for your input as always. xx
