I bought some Thompson & Morgan Brugmansia seeds this year, and the first one has flowered. It's growing upwards, it's a datura.

If I had wanted daturas I would have bought a packet. I already have 20 of them.

Looking at their web site I see they have changed the name to datura. The catalogue number has stayed the same, they've just renamed it. I have the packet here clearly marked Brugmansia.

I am not a happy boy. That has put my garden plans back a year so I have just sent them an email demanding answers.

I have always only know them to be called Datura been growing them for 25 years, 4 cols....Datura versicolor the yellow, white and pink can get to about 12 ft trees.. I still got them all ....the Red D.sanguinea gets to about 4-5ft high and wide, the only one not scented,if you bring it in a cold greenhouse, will flower in there most of winter and spring. I also had grown the annuals, and still do,they flower from seed in a 2-3 months,I got the double white Ballerina and double purple just to open now, as I didn't sow them till early May.
    Enjoy the lovely scent Rich.

Despite the fact that it is a datura, the flowers are rather good.

Rich ...great pic...sadly only last a few hours...and annuals...but lovely scent, even if cut off and put them in some water, unlike the big Datura tree...loose scent as soon as they are cut off... enjoy it !!
