We need to buy a brush cutter and have been looking at various models available here but can't find reviews. OH does have a trio of petrol, leccy and battery powered strimmers but they're not enough to cope with the 2 acres of bum high grass we've got after all this rain and they all have to be carried.

A machine on wheels and with wires rather than a blade is what we're after.

    Anyone recommend one?

Have a look at this Amazon link, but if interested in this type of gear, think you need to look local where they also pick up and maintain such.

Not much in it, but there is an Italian make which I can't recall at the moment, but we did look at. Our problem was that the land was too steep and the guy locally selling said it was dangerous. I'll try to locate the name - they were well known. However if the land is flat, I would also look at hand held grass cutters that have blades like a hedge trimmer, some of which are sit-on. I've seen Italians cutting small fields of land over 1m tall with them.

Still not found the make for the cord cutters, but this is the type of machine I was on about. Not that I would be dashing down to Leroy Merlin mind you!

There is the Attila I think. A friend with a young woodland swears by his for brambles etc. It is a serious piece of kit - I'd love one for my woodland

That looks very effective @DiggersJo. Positively evil in fact and our neighbour here does let brambles grow wild all over our joint boundary and on into our plot.

i'll look into getting one here. Wouldn't buy anything from Leroy Merlin anyway.
