As per the subject which would be the best insulation
I guess the large bubbles as they are about half and inch deep, though are one inch round
Where as the small bubbles are quater of an inch deep and about 3/8 round

    ???

Never really thought about it, I've used to scrounge mine from our postal dept at work, but that never lasted long. For the last few years I've been using some heavy duty bubble wrap that came free with some sofas. It's got the smaller bubbles and one side is covered in a thin clear cushion material. That's not answering your question though, I would guess large :dbgrtmb:

The large may be a bit better. But I am not sure it matters. I suspect that the main benefit is from the air trapped between the glass and the bubblewrap, rather than the air trapped in the bubblewrap itself. The ideal air gap, quoted for domestic double glazing, is 0.6 to 0.75 inches.

I would pick the one that comes on the widest possible rolls. Less effort to put up, fewer joints to have to tape up. If they are both the same I would buy the cheapest. Doubt there is much material difference. My guess would be that the smaller bubbles are better, as there would be less air movement compared to the larger bubbles - but maybe the extra plastic connections front-to-back increases the "cold bridge" effect :( So given I don't know, scientifically speaking, I'd revert to widest / cheapest :)

I would ask around the neighbourhood Jack.
                If it's available, take it.
Make your decision on the basis of "freebe volume"
If you need to mix it then do it.

                    Read on another forum:

Put the flat-side towards the glass. Less contact-points with the glass (compared to lots of "bubbles" touching the glass) and thus fewer cold-bridges.

We always used the largest size bubblewrap at work as you say Kristen, easier to put up particularly when sectioning off a quarter of a half acre glasshouse!
I'm not sure whether the size of bubble is that critical, any wrap will help.
When I finished work some accidently came home with me. As soon as the new greenhouse goes up next week I shall bubble wrap it straight away.
At least the new one has grooves in the glazing bars for Ali plugs, better than tape or sealant.

I've never bubble wrapped mine as I cant find the effort or inclination to move absolutely everything, try to get it down around the staging, and then put it all back.

Some kind of good, fast to fix, insulation on the outside, would get me interested.

Large, and mine's in place all year round....helps to keep it from roasting when we do get sun and warm in the winter.
