    Hi Alan
Larger bubbles would allow more light through.

The important thing is getting a still air gap between the bubblewrap and the glazing itself.
If warm air can get around the bubblewrap to the cold glazing the heat is gone ;)

uv resistant bubblewrap is ideal for glass greeenhouses, cheap normal bubblewrap for poly covered ones as uv protection is in the poly.

    Hi Alan

I think Hex is right about the larger bubble wrap. I bought the small bubble wrap as it was cheaper. Mine came from Focus in a roll of about 35 meters. It was the cheapest I could find.

Hex is right about UV resistance, but if you are only going to use it in the winter it may not matter too much.

do people think the bubble wrap you get from remoals people is better value? They come in various sizes of bubble. It seems that if you mention "gardening" the price doubles!

I do not remember the exact details of the bubble wrap from Focus. I think it was £15 per roll 75 cms wide and 35 metres long. It was half the price or less of garden centres. But you did have to buy complete rolls.

This place is a third that of Focus - but carriage is £12.

You need the airgap ..an inch or two at most.

Don`t make it too big as it`s easier for convective currents to circulate the air inbetween the glass and bubblewrap and reduce the insulation value.

The important thing is to seal the bubblewrap layer so it`s as airtight as possible from the rest of the greenhouse.

Usually easier said than done [IMG]
