Good afternoon,I have tried to look for the Buddleia thread but cannot find it :)I know that with your help that I have to hard prune my Buddleia bush in early spring and deadhead it now or their abouts,I have a Buddleia growing in a field at the back of my garden and it is massive and covered in flowers but no one ever prunes it,yet mine is only 6/7 ft high and has flowers but not many and is pruned regularly,Can someone please explain why the neglected Buddleia is a lot better than mine, thank you my friends:)

Sorry, woo, no explanation from me, but a suggestion ... go grab a cutting from the one in the field when you are out on a night flight!

Hi Scrungee yes that's the thread thank you my friend, but it doesn't answer my question, but not to worry I will have a Google:)

"M" surely your not suggesting I break the law by illegally taking a cutting from an on my travel's Buddleia in the dark,I can hardly see the mice these days(Nights)the other night I brought an old tennis ball home for breakfast:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Hi Woo,I found that when we neglected the buddleja's on our lottie plots they grew huge and were full of blooms and butterfly/bees on the top.Mr Kandy cut back the ones at home to a better size and now don't get a lot of blooms or wildlife. The ones round the village that have been neglected by non gardening house owners are full of both flowers and wild life:biggrin:Two of the lottie ones he chopped back last Autumn havn't done much good as a lot of the new growth got killed off when we had that snow/ice earlier in the year.

:hate-shocked: Moi? :nonofinger: Absolutely *not*

I'm merely going by what my dear old mother taught me was a "cutting" when I was a wee whippersnapper. :old:

We would be walking along, casually, like you do: she would stop and state, "Oooh, that's lovely. Wonder what it smells like?"
She would gracefully bend to sniff, take a long inhale ... then walk on.
Later in the day, a jam jar would appear on the kitchen windowsill, containing some water and a "cutting", which she claimed must have broken off and fallen into her pocket as we passed by :heehee:

I knew my mother wouldn't lie, otherwise she would have had to wash her own mouth out in soapy water!

Disclaimer: No plants were permanently injured, dug up, or killed during our walks
