Good morning Woo. Yes I grow Bugbane, (Cimicifuga Racemosa Autro Purpurea...what a mouthful, is the variety I grow) In other words Bugbane with dark purpleish foliage. Love the plant. Gorgeous foliage. Lovely bottlebrush white flowers to cheer up an herbaceous border late on in the season and it doesn't need staking...bliss. 1 of my favourite herbaceous. Here in Scotland it grows eqally well in sun or shade and while we aren't the driest of climates we aren't that wet either. Seems very accommdating all in all. It isn't a thug, here anyway. Expanding every year but not by a great deal so that it becomes a nuisance. My clumps are looking a little sad atm (will recover) as a fair portion of the new foliage has been burnt by the hellish frosts. I would certainly recommend the plant whether the dark or normal leafed variety.

I grow it too, it's a real star - with it's eye-catching deep purple foliage and white flowers that go on and on. Mine clump is about 6" high now but they do get very tall.
