In the first picture the insects are aphids they can be squished between your fingers or washed off with soapy water, natural predators like ladybird and lacewing larvae should be encouraged.
The second picture the second plant from the right is suffering leafminer damage, the lines on the leaves are little critters tunneling between the leaf tissue sprays containing Methiocarb or Imidacloprid are effective, you can remove the complete leaves and destroy them.
Some leaf scorch also evident, don't water the plants in full sun.

I have found two little critters one on the branch of my climbing rose , the other not on a plant but by a grid. They are leaf green and flat, as big as a thumb nail with a hard back. Sorry I do no have a photo of them as yet but am trying to get one .Should I be worried. THanks Barb.

Barb, it sounds like yours are shield bugs, which won't do your plants any harm.

Thanks Lavender, first time that I have spotted them. Will they eat aphids by any chance?. Cheers Barb.

No, they won't eat aphids and they won't harm your plants. Just a little bug living it's life. I like them. Be careful when you spray:wink:
